Kara Sylvain

Growing up outside Atlanta, Georgia, Kara began volunteering at a young age to serve the community with the Atlanta Community Foodbank, Habitat for Humanity and Hosea Feed The Hungry. At 16, she travelled to Jamaica with a church youth group to help a mountain community.

She volunteered and then later worked for Wellspring Living, a nonprofit dedicated to helping victims of domestic sex trafficking.

She is interested in working on issues relating to breaking the cycle of homelessness, as well as using her engineering skills to develop assistive and adaptive devices for amputees.
