Christina Nikiforidou

Christina is an international student from Greece at the University of Maryland where she is majoring in Mechanical Engineering. She aspires to pursue an academic career in non-linear dynamics and its applications in solid and fluid mechanics.

Her interest in dynamics was first enhanced when she became a member of TerpsRacing, a Formula SAE design team, where she would analyze the dynamics of the vehicle and optimize the suspension system.

Inspired by the optimization process, Christina is currently enjoying working on the Tools & Technologies for Pandemics project; she is conducting team research in the computational dynamics of epidemiology, by using machine learning to design models that are trained to solve the core optimization problems in epidemic dynamics. In her spare time, she likes practicing amateurish photography, reading literature, and swimming.
