Mikhail Khrenov is a 3rd year Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science major, working with Dr. Axel Krieger at the Johns Hopkins University. He and Dr. Krieger are working on solving the urgent issue of allowing healthcare providers to perform regular monitoring and control of ICU equipment such as ventilators remotely, reducing the amount of PPE used and the amount of COVID exposure.
During the pandemic Mikhail built a pilot robot in his basement with parts he printed on a consumer-grade 3D-Printer and commercially bought stock components. He is working on making the robot more robust and flexible, and is revising elements of the robot’s construction and user interface to better accommodate use in an ICU environment in concert with a member of clinical ventilator staff at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
