Kristen Edwards

Kristen Edwards

When beginning her undergraduate education at the University of Maryland Kristen “made her assumptions small and her goals wide” in aiming to help those who have been underserved. In Engineers without Borders she was the Head of Operations and Maintenance for the Ghana chapter. In the UMD Global Fellows program, she became the Clark School and Honors College Representative. As Service Chair of Theta Tau, she joined 16 other members on a weeklong Habitat for Humanity trip. She has been inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership society.

As Vice President of External Affairs for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers she worked on the successful Noche de Ciencias (Night of Science) STEM program to provide resources, community, and role models to young Hispanic students in engineering. Kristen also won the 2019 Spirit of Maryland Award at the University of Maryland, and is pursuing an MS and PhD in Mechanical Engineering at MIT, so that she may not only chase her own dreams, but also act as a guide to help others chase their dreams.
