Roshan Rao

In high school, Roshan was the President of his school’s National Honor Society, and was awarded the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Award for Frederick County. He has interned for the National Cancer Institute and was selected as an Assistant Near-Peer mentor for the Gains in the Education of Mathematics and Science (GEMS) Program. While at the University of Maryland he served as an academic achievement program tutor, as well as an A. James Clark School of Engineering Ambassador while he studied Mechanical Engineering.

After his own experience, Roshan is most interested in creating social impact in the areas of medicine and education, and is looking to help those who are going through significant health challenges while attending college. He is also interested in entrepreneurship for social change following his experiences in the Hinman and Engineering for Social Change programs.
