David Boutin

As President of the Theta Tau professional leadership engineering fraternity on the University of Maryland campus, David created a connection between Theta Tau and the Neilom Foundation, organizing a contribution to the Foundation on their behalf. David also served as Vice President of Corporate Affairs with the Society for Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) on the University of Maryland campus, and is a member of the SHPE National board. He championed developing an SHPE Jr. chapter at Wheaton High School, which has a 50% Hispanic population, and it was officially formed with 18 members by SHPE National.  

He reaches out though bilingual presentations at Noche de Ciencias (Nights of Science) to lower-income students in the DC area. He has also been involved in community service through the Eagle Scouts program. David made an impact in the area of mental illness, working with the nonprofit National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) in planning the first ever NAMI 5K Walk on the campus. David was recognized as a Neilom Fellow in Fall 2019 for his outstanding contributions to social impact, and in 2021 became a Board member of the Neilom Foundation.
